Geographic Information Science (centering around smart urban construction) (Science and engineering applicants, four-year undergraduate program, bachelor of science)

Space information is an engine for speeding up the construction of digital city.   

The geographic information science program, one of the two four-star undergraduate programs in our university that have been ranked by the national undergraduate program ranking system for the past several years, is a top-level undergraduate program in the Chinese private-owned universities. In 2012, this program was chosen as a talent-training program for emerging (pillar) industry of national strategic importance within Hubei higher educational institutions. In 2013, this program was chosen for “comprehensive pilot reform in undergraduate program” within Hubei higher educational institutions. The graduate employment rate of this program has been stabilized at over 99% for the past several years and average annual rate of post-graduates that are enrolled by graduate schools nationwide has been kept at above 20%. The students in this program have won several prizes at national university GIS skill competition.             

This undergraduate program aims to provide students with a solid foundation of geographic information system and with their vision in major fields and development trends of geographic information system. These students are well prepared for applicant-oriented talents in data collection, data processing, application development, production management, technical support and administrative management related to geographic information system in such professional fields as urban management, resource management, environment management and urban planning management.
