    On the morning of March 23, 2017, Mark Cai，Director of China Office, Birmingham City University, Visited WHUES and discussed with his Chinese counterparts the cooperation with WHUES in terms of jewelry design, international jewelry business, and art design. The bilateral meeting was chaired by Ms. Zhao Huan, vice dean of School of International Education. Also attended the meeting Mr. Qi Yanhua, director of Department of Educational Affairs, Ms. Hu Jingjing, standing vice director of Department of Educational Affairs, Ms. Li Fengjun, director of Department of Jewelry Design, and Mr. Liu Bin, vice director of Department of Jewelry Design.

    At this meeting, Ms. Zhao Huan expressed her welcome to Mark Cai from Birmingham City University, and presented some basic information about WHUES. Then，Ms. Li Fengjun presented a brief introduction to art talent training at WHUES. Since 2015, the two parties have for several times contacted each other in terms of jewelry design. Each year, the students from WHUES choose to go to Birmingham City University for their further study, laying a solid foundation for academic exchanges.

    Director also showed his gratitude to the students in jewelry, arts and other programs from WHUES who have chosen Birmingham City University for their overseas learning destination. A wider range of inter-university exchange and cooperation is expected to be increased to promote the implementation of two joint programs: “2+2 program (two years at WHUES and 2 years at Birmingham City University)” only for Bachelor’s degree program, and “2+2+1 program (two years for undergraduate program at WHUES, two years also for undergraduate program at Massey University and one year for master’s program)”. In this way, the advantages of the two universities can be combined to make the joint programs work out effectively for training of application-oriented talents.

    The letter of intent for cooperation between the two parties was drafted at this meeting, and would soon be signed in the form of Memorandum of Cooperation Between WHUES and Birmingham City University.
