  中国传统农历把一年分为24个节气。立春标志着春天的开始，是第1个节气，今年从2月4日开始，2月19日结束。

  The traditional Chinese lunar calendar divides the year into 24 solar terms. Start of Spring marks the beginning of spring and is the first solar term. It begins on Feb 4 and ends on Feb 19 this year.

 立春是春季的第一个节气，这意味着气温回升、万物复苏，冬天结束春天正式开始。

 Start of Spring is the first solar term of spring. It means that the temperature rises and everything recovers, and spring officially begins after the end of winter.

 立春，为廿四节气之首，又名正月节、岁节、改岁、岁旦等。立，是“开始”之意；春，代表着温暖、生长。在自然界，立春最显著的特点就是万物开始有复苏的迹象。立春乃万物起始、一切更生之义也，意味着新的一个轮回已开启。

 立春这一天，潮汕民间还有吃春饼、春卷一俗。据《四时宝鉴》说：“立春日春饼、生菜，号春盘。”春饼是以麦面烙制或蒸制的薄饼，以豆芽、韭黄、粉丝等炒成的合菜作馅儿包着食用。春饼的特点是薄而软，形状根据各人的喜好可大可小。

 On the day of Start of Spring , Chaoshan folk eat spring cake, spring roll a custom. According to "Four seasons treasure Jian" said: "Spring day spring cake, lettuce, number spring plate." Spring cakes are thin pancakes baked or steamed with wheat noodles and filled with mixed vegetables such as bean sprouts, leeks and vermicelli. Spring cake is characterized by thin and soft, and the shape can be as large or small as one likes.

 中国民间风俗，指立春那天用鞭子抽打泥做的春牛以祈丰年或是敲打小锣、竹板等，唱着歌词，挨户索取钱财的习俗。

  Chinese folk customs refer to the custom of whipping the clay spring ox to pray for a good harvest, or beating small gongs and bamboo slacks, singing lyrics and asking for money from house to house on the start of Spring day. 

  佩燕子是长安、关中一带人民的古俗。每年的立春日，人们喜欢在胸前佩戴用彩绸剪成的“燕子”，这种风俗起自唐代，现在仍然在农村中流行。因为燕子是报春的使者，也是幸福吉利的象征。所以许多富有人家，都在自己厅房正中或房檐下，修建燕子窝。

 Swallow is an ancient custom of Chang 'an and Guanzhong people. Every year on the Start of Spring, people like to wear "swallows" made of colorful silk cut on their chests. This custom has been around since the Tang Dynasty and is still popular in rural areas. Because the swallow is the messenger of the early spring, is also a symbol of happiness and good luck. So many rich families build swallow nests in the middle of their rooms or under the eaves.
